Some practical information about your appointment day:

Mask wearing is now optional for patients. We still clean the practice and equipment between patients.

Parking

At present, all parking in Houghton-le-Spring is free. The nearest car park belongs to Lidl, at the top of Mautland Street (where the Co-op used to be, for those that know Houghton-le-Spring). Parking is restricted to 90 minutes at Lidl. There are a couple of disabled bays near the Lidl car park, as well as a drop-off area, both of which are very near to the practice in Mautland Street.

There is some off-street parking beside the northbound A182; turn first left after the A690/A182 roundabout, immediately before the footbridge over the road. There are large, free, car parks on Station Road, but it's an uphill walk (a short one) to the practice from there.

Houghton-le-Spring is well served by buses. All the buses stop on Houghton-le-Spring’s main street, Newbottle Street, which is a minute’s walk to the practice.

For people with mobility problems there is a drop-off access to the practice door. Please ring the practice beforehand – 0191 5842226 – for directions.

NHS Sight tests

If you qualify for an NHS sight test on income grounds please bring your benefit letter or card with you to show us on the day. The NHS Choices website has information about NHS sight tests.
